The Oklahoma Workers' Compensation Court, in cooperation with the Meridian Technology Center and the Workers' Compensation Section of the Oklahoma Bar Association, is sponsoring a WORKERS' COMPENSATION EDUCATIONAL CONFERENCE on October 3 and 4, 2013 at the Meridian Technology Center in Stillwater, OK.

NOTICE REGARDING PRESIDING JUDGE

Judge L. Brad Taylor has been appointed by Governor Mary Fallin to serve as Presiding Judge of the Workers’ Compensation Court for a two-year term beginning January 1, 2013. He succeeds Judge Michael J. Harkey who was selected by Judge Taylor to serve as Vice-Presiding Judge.

CDC'S 2008 LIFE TABLE TO BE USED FOR WORKERS' COMPENSATION MEDICARE SET-ASIDES

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services issued a notice this week advising it will begin referencing the U.S. Centers for Disease Control's (CDC) 2008 Life Table 1: for the total population: United States, 2008, for workers' compensation Medicare Set-Aside life expectancy calculations, effective January 19, 2013. Life tables are available on the CDC website.

Mileage Reimbursement Rate for 2013

The Internal Revenue Service has announced an INCREASE in the mileage reimbursement rate $0.565 per mile, effective January 1, 2013. (See Internal Revenue Bulletin IR-2012-95, November 21, 2012). This is an increase from the $0.555 rate in effect for calendar year 2012. The new rate is for travel incurred during calendar year 2013.
